Qualifications Required
- Possess an Oregon license valid for assignment;
- Ability to meet the Junction City School District Standards of Competent Teacher Performance and the Oregon Standards for Professional Educators;
- Ability to provide appropriate instruction to students based on diagnosed needs;
- Ability to organize workload to cover assessment, instruction, conferencing, and IEP writing;
- Knowledge and understanding of special education law requirements;
- Demonstrated behavior management techniques;
- Ability to write, implement, and follow-up on IEPs for specific students receiving special education services in regular, resource, or other settings;
- Ability to implement District curriculum and state standards;
- Responsibility to know, understand, and adhere to District policy;
- Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively and collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, administrators, students, parents, patrons, and agency representatives;
- Ability to evaluate educational strengths and needs of students significantly behind in communication skills.
- Ability to determine most appropriate placement for students with communication difficulties, using the appropriate District-approved testing instruments or assessment results;
- Ability to monitor the progress of students and make any necessary program or placement changes;
- Ability to provide direction to instructional assistants assigned to assist with student instruction;
- Ability to professionally communicate with parents and teachers regarding students’ learning abilities and needs.
