Job Description: Mechanical Engineer

Position: Mechanical Engineer

Location: Washington Office (with travel to Honolulu office and national/international job sites)

Experience Level: Mid-level to Senior-level

About our client: Our client is a leading firm specializing in construction defect litigation and investigation work. Our team of eight engineers and architects is dedicated to providing expert analysis and solutions in the construction industry. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team and contribute to our ongoing success.

Role Overview: We are looking for a mid-level to senior-level Mechanical Engineer with a Professional Engineering (PE) license and at least 5 years of experience. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the construction industry, including the ability to read plans/blueprints and comprehend the construction process. This role involves a mix of forensic investigation work in our lab, site work, and technical writing/research. There is also the potential to manage 1-2 individuals on our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct forensic investigations to analyze construction defects and failures.
  • Collaborate with a team of engineers and architects on complex litigation cases.
  • Perform site inspections and gather data to support forensic investigations.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports and documentation based on findings.
  • Manage and mentor 1-2 team members as needed.
  • Travel to the firm's Honolulu office and various job sites nationally and internationally.

Role Requirements:

  • Professional Engineering (PE) License: Must have a current PE license and at least 5 years of experience working within that license.
  • Construction Industry Knowledge: Must be proficient in reading plans/blueprints and understanding the various stages of the construction process.
  • Technical Writing: Experience with technical writing and reviewing engineering documents is essential.
  • Forensic Investigation: Preferred experience in forensic investigation and construction defect work.
  • Equipment Familiarity: Familiarity with large/heavy equipment and machinery is preferred.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel to the Honolulu office and other job sites as required.
