Responsibilities & Qualifications:

The Payroll Supervisor works under the guidance of and reports directly to the Payroll Manager. This role is responsible for directing a team of Payroll Specialists and managing the administrative duties of the Payroll Department, supporting multiple locations nationwide. Additionally, this individual will collaborate closely with the Human Resources team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise and mentor a team of payroll specialists, providing guidance and support
  • Oversee the preparation and processing of weekly payroll for a designated portion of our employee base
  • Verify timekeeping records and consult with management about any discrepancies
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage and hour laws and best practices
  • Review and audit payroll reports for accuracy for all employees
  • Manage payroll reporting and administration, to various departments
  • Handle payroll discrepancies and provide resolutions in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance departments to ensure seamless payroll operations and address any issues in coordination with payroll manager
  • Provide training on payroll procedures to the field
  • Update and create SOPs to support HR procedures
  • Stay updated on changes in payroll laws and regulations, to assist with implementing necessary changes to company policies and procedures
  • Assist in internal audits and resolve payroll-related inquiries from associates and management
  • Support and assist with external audits related to payroll

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors degree in a Business related field required; in Accounting or Finance strongly preferred.
  • Certification in a Payroll (e.g., CPP) related field is a plus.
  • A minimum of 5 years of payroll experience with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll practices, laws, and regulations.
  • Experience processing payroll for 500 employees.
  • Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., ADP & Ceridian Dayforce a plus) MS Office, especially Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
