Kodiak Island Borough School District is Hiring a Supply Specialist II Near Kodiak, AK

The Kodiak Island Borough School District is accepting applications for a Supply Specialist II for the Finance Department.
Position SummaryThe Supply Specialist II receives, sorts, processes, checks in/out, delivers, temporarily stores, prepares for shipment and applies postal regulations in handling a variety of mail, supplies and freight to and from pick-up and delivery points. Has the responsibility to train and direct the activities of the Supply Specialist I.
Hours: 8.0 hours per day, 5 days a week, and 12 months per year
Salary: Entry Range 13, Step 1: $19.04
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of postal regulations and procedures; mail and freight handling practices and procedures; school district office locations.
  • Ability to receive, sort and deliver mail and supply items; physically handle mail sacks and bulk freight; handle confidential and high-value items; adhere to fixed schedules; operate a motor vehicle using back-up mirrors.
  • Operate current office technology as appropriate and have knowledge of general accounting practices.
  • High school graduate or equivalent, and prefer 2 years of experience in a postal or supply receiving or shipping facility.
  • Must possess a valid State of Alaska motor vehicle operator’s license with no insurance restrictions.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of students, staff, school business, materials and information.
  • Ability to safely, regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
  • Ability to work well with public, students, staff, and parents.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain warehouse, including acting as warehouse controller, taking inventory and posting to the inventory records, delivering supplies from the warehouse and unloading vans for warehouse storing and stacking.
  • Deliver intra-district mail, supplies and freight, make scheduled runs; sort items that are typically addressed to a specific school or complex, employee or office name; pick up items at stations, post office, and air and surface transportation outlets.
  • Receive mail, freight, and parcel shipments; check in items against shipping documents for complete shipment, damaged material and correct discrepancies; refer questionable shipments to Business Department personnel, prepare claims documentation; notify addressee of shipment arrivals, divide shipments for delivery to users.
  • Record registered, insured and other specialized mail, deliver and obtain receipt signatures; wrap packages and otherwise secure packages and freight; follow and apply postal service regulations in readying outgoing mail; operate postage machines and other mail processing equipment, record meter readings; follow district policy on handling of confidential and high-value items.
  • Assist by delivering lunches and supplies to schools, pick up perishable foods, inventory freezers, count frozen lunches and cafeteria supplies; pick up and deliver all groceries and supplies to air and surface transportation outlets.
  • Serve as backup to other shipping/receiving personnel for short periods of time.
  • Process all purchases requisitioned from Central Stores.
  • Responsible for keeping all fixed assets records and properly tagging same as per school district policy.
  • Maintain the inventory records for Central Stores to include data on Central Stores inventory, which may include Cafeteria, Village Lunches and USDA inventory, posting of incoming/outgoing supplies and posting charges to various accounts.
  • Maintain confidentiality of students, staff, school business, materials, and information.
  • Other duties as assigned from time to time.
