La Porte Hospital is Hiring a Sterile Process Tech Near LAPORTE, IN

Responsible for preparing and assembling medical and surgical supplies, instrumentation, and equipment, maintaining the sterile processing areas, and receiving and distributing surgical supplies and equipment. May be required to participate in on-call status.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Certifications/Experience:

  • One year of sterile processing experience preferred
  • Central Supply Processing Department Technician (CSPDT), or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification preferred
  • Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) certification preferred

Essential Functions:

  1. Follow established protocols for cleaning, decontaminating, preparing and packaging, disinfecting or sterilizing, and storing medical and surgical supplies and equipment.
  2. Distribute medical and surgical supplies from sterile processing areas to other areas within the facility or health care organization as needed.
  3. Adhere to standard precautions including the use of personal protective equipment.
  4. Follow safety procedures and manufacturer’s instructions when handling cleaning solutions, supplies and equipment.
  5. Operate equipment used in the sterile processing areas safely and according to the manufacturer’s instructions for use.
  6. Monitor, interpret, and document results of physical, chemical and biological indicators for all types of sterilizers used in the sterile processing areas.
  1. Prepare and distribute items associated with surgical case carts according to physician’s preference lists and anticipated needs of the perioperative team.
  2. Inventory, receive, and restock materials used for supporting sterile processing services.
  3. Comply with organizational policies, regulatory and accreditation standards, and professional guidelines.
  4. Exhibit professional interpersonal and communication skills.
  5. Assist with improving the quality of sterile processing services and assist with identifying pertinent evidence to establish benchmarks as directed.
  6. Maintain privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health information

  16. Team Member is accountable for areas of responsibility meeting regulatory requirements including but not limited to maintaining annual TB testing, completing annual mandatories (ALC and competency), and maintaining current registration/certification/licensures as appropriate to position requirements.
