The Practice NW is Hiring a Business Operations Manager Near Lacey, WA

The Practice NW is a small, family-owned business that has been in operation in north Thurston County for just over a year. Our purpose is to provide comprehensive business services for mental health professionals who are small-business owners, commonly referred to as private practitioners, so they can focus on offering mental health services without having to navigate the time consuming and complex tasks associated with insurance credentialing, medical billing, office leases, and other business administration responsibilities.

We deeply value relationships. As a result, we actively work to cultivate strong collaborative relationships among the members in our business community. We are looking for a team member who shares our values and can help us strengthen and expand the array of services we offer with an initial focus on medical billing. this position would start at 10 hours per week with the potential to grow into a full-time supervisory position.

  • Live within reasonable commuting distance from Lacey in order to provide in-person support to members in the current office location
  • Be willing and able to start in a part-time role and increase hours, potentially up to full-time employment, as supported by program growth (ideally within a year of employment)

Required Qualifications:

  • Legally eligible to work in the United States and at least 18 years old
  • Education and experience related to medical coding and billing:

1) Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (e.g., healthcare, business). Additional professional experience can be substituted year for year for the Bachelor’s degree.

2) At least four (4) years of experience in medical coding, medical billing, or relevant medical policy making.

3) Current certification as a Certified Professional Coder with the American Association of Professional Coders (or equivalent) or ability to obtain certification within six (6) months of hire.

4) Extensive knowledge of insurance payor reimbursement and accounts receivable follow-up with demonstrated knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party coding requirements specific to behavioral health.

  • Office management and/or project management experience
  • Proficient in basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Comfortable developing proficiency in use of new software programs
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail

Responsibilities:

Medical/Mental Health Billing

  • Customer (clinician) recruitment
  • Insurance Credentialing
  • Billing for mental health services, including but not limited to: Insurance verification, Claim validation, Claim submission, Claim rejection/denial follow-up, Payment posting/reconciliation

Office Operations

  • Member-management platform administration
  • Mail processing
  • Space management and community event support

Communications

  • Quarterly member newsletter

Compensation:

  • Starting at 10 hours per week at $40/hour
  • Benefits (part-time employment)

o 2 hours of sick leave for each 40 hours worked

o 2 hours of personal/vacation leave for each 40 hours worked

o Employer HSA contributions

o Paid Family & Medical Leave (PFML)
