We are currently seeking a full-time on-site Lead Lab Techin our Department of Biological Sciences. The pay for this position is $21.00/hr.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Prepare materials for teaching labs which use techniques in microbiology, cell biology, molecular biology, and genetics.
• Maintain the department's stock of microbiological cultures.
• Prep labs, including preparing all classroom culture media and supplies.
• Tear down laboratory classroom materials and disposes of used materials.
• Assist graduate teaching assistants and faculty inside and outside of the laboratory classroom.
• Serves as the department’s Designated Trained Individual (DTI) in handling safety issues in teaching and research labs.
• Assist with the disposal of chemical wastes.
• Assist the Manager of Life Sciences Support Services with departmental tasks as deemed necessary.

Required Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, or Chemistry.
• At least 3 years of experience in laboratory protocols.
• Experience culturing cells, tissues, and organisms; including media preparation.
• Experience with student instruction and supervision.
• Experience with disposal of biological and chemical wastes.
• Capacity to conduct long term culturing of stock cultures.
• The ability to learn, know, adhere to, and monitor government and university safety regulations.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
