The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is a 30-person office that reports to the County Administrator and has the responsibility of guiding the organization in the development and management of the annual operating budget, the six-year capital budget, long-range demographics forecasting, organizational performance management, revenue modeling and forecasting, and financial modeling for collective bargaining negotiations. OMB values innovation, customer service, and data-informed decision making.
The Assistant Director will advise senior executives, including all county department and agency heads, guide operating budget development, and lead a dynamic and highly efficient team responsible for the County’s annual operating budget. This position will manage the development, monitoring, and execution of the County's operating budget, including complex revenue forecasting and modeling to support collective bargaining negotiations. Candidates should demonstrate in their application materials strong analytical and public speaking skills and effective personnel management abilities, including staff development and performance management. This position oversees the work of 14 managers and analysts.
This position includes highly competitive health benefits, eligibility in the Virginia Retirement System, deferred compensation plan contributions, and annual, sick, and professional leave benefits. Additionally, this role offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing up to two days of remote work each week. First round interviews will be scheduled in mid- to late-August 2024.
Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.
Master's degree in public administration, business, or related fields with at least five (5) years of experience of directly relevant and progressively responsible experience. Experience should include at least two (2) years in a supervisory or managerial capacity, preferably within a government setting. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
