POSITION SUMMARY:
The Assistant County Attorney I, provides legal advice for the County. The position is appointed by the County Attorney. The incumbent must prosecute criminal cases, both adult and juvenile; enforce child support and protection laws; and advise County officials and officers.
The Assistant County Attorney II provides legal advice for the County. The position is appointed by the County Attorney. The incumbent will primarily prosecute felony cases and advise County officials and officers. The incumbent must prosecute criminal cases, both adult and juvenile; enforce child support and protection laws; and advise County officials and officers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
J.D. degree required, and the incumbent must be admitted to the practice of law in the State of Minnesota. Prior legal experience, including courtroom experience is preferred.
The position requires creative thinking, persuasiveness, analytical abilities, a strong sense of equity, good judgment and good managerial skills. Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, flexibility and diplomacy. Incumbent has heavy employee/public contact. Must effectively relate to all organization levels and the public. Must develop and maintain positive public relations, professionally representing the County Attorney's office. Must develop and maintain positive public relations, professionally representing the County Attorney's Office, Morrison County and the industry.
The incumbent must have a thorough knowledge of County organizational structure, policies and practices, and projects. Must have a working knowledge of job content and requirements of management positions throughout the County. Must possess strong organizational skills to meet deadlines and coordinates multiple simultaneous activities with little direction. The incumbent must have through knowledge of constitutional law, Minnesota Statutes, court rules and procedure. The incumbent must be able to incorporate and apply this information to fact situations during oral and written presentations
