SUMMARY:
The Tool and Die Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing and directing the tool and die department within the facility to improve day to day die sustaining activities, driving continuous improvements, while meeting quality and safety standards. The Tool and Die Supervisor will ensure the success in building and repairing all types of dies, fixtures, and special machine assemblies.
Essential Functions:
- Manage effectiveness of all tool room employees. This includes EDM, CNC Operators, and Machinists.
- Partner with appropriate departments to support new tooling builds, new product launches, and the day to day needs of the organization.
- Develop and monitor improvement activities with accordance to the KPI's of the facility and tooling department.
- Monitors and strategically manages assigned expense budgets.
- Oversees the tool life process and make recommendations for end of life replacements.
- Manage the critical tooling spares listing and inventory using the ABC methodology.
- Actively manage the apprenticeship program.
- Collaborate with the local career centers and high schools to recruit potential candidates for apprenticeships.
- Coordinate with outside vendors and service providers.
- Develop plans to maintain, rebuild, and upgrade tool room equipment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
- Ability to work effectively with and through others in a team-based environment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Self-motivated and ability to perform with little to no supervision
- Ability to effectively read and interpret tooling and part prints and drawings
- Ability to be accurate and timely
- Ability to provide technical assistance to internal and external customers as needed
