NEW LONDON PUBLIC SCHOOLS is Hiring an Intervention specialist Near London, CT

TITLE : Intervention Specialist, (High School and Middle School)

REPORTS TO : Assistant Superintendent of Academics

SUPERVISES : N / A

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT : 25 hours per week during the regular school year, other terms as set by the Board of Education

PRIMARY FUNCTION : To plan and deliver effective intervention instruction to assigned students.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Learn methods of and successfully implement a variety of intervention programs.
  • Plan and deliver small group intervention instruction to assigned students.
  • Create and maintain accurate data on student progress.
  • Monitor progress and adjust instruction as needed, based on student data.
  • Match appropriate instructional materials and strategies based on student need as determined through data analysis.
  • Perform other instructional duties as assigned by the principal or designee.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Direct experience working with children.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Bilingual, English and Spanish
  • Self-motivated
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Creative; able to bring new ideas to the team.
  • Flexibility and patience in helping students build their academic success.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.

PERFORMANCE EVALUATION : Annually by the principal / director or designee.
