Responsibilities
· Lead the accounting department processes and supports the CFO with all accounting duties
· Annual Insurance policy review and approval - stay on top of new offering
· Manage bank balances daily for the companies and lead the accounting department in the documentation of all financial books and records
· Prepares and presents, monthly/quarterly/annual close for each company to the CFO
· Implement audit findings to improve
· Maintain budget and calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
· Will recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
· Takes initiative in ensuring departmental compliance with state tax requirements as well as with accepted accounting principles
· Will prepare GAAP-compliant books
· Point person for all accounting questions - Specific Accounting responsibilities:
o Daily transactions AP
o Daily AR follow-up
o Approve all stop-pays
o Approve and document all wire transfers
· Cash management between factors, banks money market, and euro accounts
· Ensures that there is consistency in procedures and policies across the accounting department and that these policies are appropriately set for the achievement of the business's overall goals and objectives
· Collaborates with external partners such as tax accounting firms, auditors, insurance, banks, and in all matters regarding auditing and taxation
Skills/Requirements
· BA in Accounting or Finance
· Controller experience within an apparel company at 100 million plus in revenue
· 7 years of working experience in a leading accounting position within a fast-paced apparel company, preferably in the capacity of Head of Accounting or Controller
· Should have a successful, and proven background leading a financial accounting department in the apparel and manufacturing industry
· Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to present to the executive team
· Strong business acumen, is very analytical and procedural, is highly organized, and is a self-starter and proactive requiring minimal supervision
· Highly proficient in QuickBooks, MS Excel, MS Office, MS Outlook, and PowerPoint, which will be necessary for the creation of financial reports and recommendations
· ERP experience a plus: Exenta
