Occupational Therapist Position Summary

(Pre-K - 12th Grade)

.60 FTE (Benefit package prorated to FTE)

An Occupational Therapist in the educational setting collaborates with educators and families to support students' academic success and functional performance, focusing on fine motor skills, visual-perceptual abilities, daily living activities, assistive technology, and sensory processing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Evaluate student needs for educational planning and policy development.
• Attend various school meetings and parent-teacher conferences.
• Schedule and implement interventions using diverse service delivery models.
• Review physician reports and design academic treatment plans.
• Provide therapy to enhance students' strength, dexterity, and neuro-motor functions.
• Train students in using adapted tools for school independence.
• Collaborate with school staff to meet student needs and coordinate individualized educational programs (IEPs).
• Screen students using appropriate instruments and techniques.
• Apply knowledge of health, mental health, disabilities, and child development to support students and families.
• Follow federal, state, and local policies in service delivery.
• Use technology for data management and report writing.
• Address cultural and situational factors influencing family and school interactions.
• Develop cognitive and academic goals for students with varying abilities.
• Make data-based decisions for designing interventions and monitoring progress.
• Consult with teachers, staff, and families on student adjustments.
• Coordinate with other professionals and agencies for additional resources.
• Maintain accurate records and prepare necessary reports for compliance and billing.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Master’s degree or higher in occupational therapy from an accredited institution.
• Experience working with pediatric populations.
• Preferably five years of professional experience in occupational therapy.
