POSITION PURPOSE :

North Wind Portage is seeking to hire a qualified applicant for a contamination control technician position. The preferred candidate will be a team player with excellent attention to detail who is looking to gain experience in the environmental remediation industry.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Perform routine disinfection of frequently touched surfaces.
• Clean appliances, lavatories and showers.
• Restock consumable inventories.
• Vacuum, mop, scrub, and polish floors.
• Remove trash and other refuse.
• Remove dust from equipment, furniture, and fixtures.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Perform decontamination activities in accordance with site procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Education and Experience :

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
• 1 year of work experience in contamination control, custodial engineering, or a similar role.

Skills and Abilities :

• Motivated and willing to work as part of a team and perform multiple job functions.
• Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Work well with others in a group or one-on-one setting.
• Understand the operational characteristics of the assigned equipment.
• Clearly communicate professionally, both orally and in written form.
• Have knowledge of and comply with all regulations and procedures governing safe driving, inspection, and maintenance of equipment.
• Execute tasks after receiving written or oral instructions.
• Maintain records related to tasks performed.

Special Requirements :

• Proof of US citizenship.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• May be required to pass a pre-employment background check.
• Must be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
• Must be able to receive a normal BeLPT result.
• Must be able to pass a physical examination, including a pulmonary function test.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including overtime and weekends, pending demand.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

• Current 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification.
• Rad Worker II training.
• Current normal BeLPT result.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

• Ability to work in hot or cold environments for reasonable periods of time.
• Physically able to perform job tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT :

• Both indoor and outdoor tasks to be expected.
• Elevated noise levels possible.
• Use of equipment such as, but not limited to; vacuums, mops, wet brushes, and pressure washers.
