OVERVIEW We are seeking a highly organized individual with the self-directed spirit of an entrepreneur to help us continue to grow our residential lighting design business. The Operations and Office Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of our office and business operations. This individual will need to be highly flexible, able to take direction and execute tasks efficiently with minimal oversight, and capable of providing constructive feedback to leadership. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator, detail-oriented, and capable of managing a wide range of responsibilities. As our company grows, this role is expected to evolve and specialize more deeply in one of these areas of responsibility. The role will be mostly on-site in Madison, Wisconsin with some hybrid/work-from-home potential and will occasionally require wrangling packages up a flight of stairs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Office Management:
Oversee daily office operations, ensuring a productive and positive work environment.
Manage payroll, billing, and employee onboarding processes.
Maintain office supplies and equipment, coordinating with vendors as needed for local and remote teams.
Operations Management:
Develop and implement systems to improve business operations, scalability, and efficiency.
Monitor and analyze operational metrics to identify areas for improvement.
Collaborate with various departments to streamline processes and enhance productivity.
Executive Assistance:
Manage executive schedules, including travel arrangements and meeting coordination.
Handle communications on behalf of executives, including email and phone correspondence.
Leadership and Collaboration:
Provide constructive feedback and recommendations to senior management.
Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment.
QUALIFICATIONS Proven experience in an operations or office management role.
Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to work independently and take initiative.
Proficiency in office management software and tools.
Experience with payroll, billing, and onboarding processes is a plus.
Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment and manage competing priorities.
Physical ability to handle occasional packages and climb stairs regularly.
Skills in marketing, presentation, sales, and human resources are welcome but no required.

Open salary structure to combat pay gaps; starting salary for office managers is $67,260 per year; applicants with significant operations experience may qualify for $79,607/year.
Work/life balance; working over forty hours per week is actively discouraged.
This will be a hybrid position for someone located in the Madison, WI area.
