Accountant

Chex Finer Foods is a leading food distributor providing specialty and natural foods to independent and chain retailers. We are seeking an Accountant to join our Finance & Accounting team. The accountant will assist with various accounting tasks to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, eager to learn, has an aptitude for problem solving, ready to take on responsibilities to support the accounting team.

Responsibilities:

• Perform general account analysis and reconciliations, including bank statements, fixed assets, accruals and prepaid expenses.
• Prepare entries for revenues, expense allocations, accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed asset depreciation and adjusting and reclassification journal entries.
• Assist in month-end close activities.
• Recording and summarizing financial transactions, maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records.
• Reporting and completion of data analysis relating to margin, credits, inventory and freight.
• Assisting with audits and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
• Identifying and reporting any financial discrepancies or irregularities.
• Assisting with all functions in the accounting department as needed, such as accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required. 3 years of accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, standards and practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience using an ERP system.
• High attention to detail and accuracy in work.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
