Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team. As a Substance Abuse Counselor, you will play a vital role in helping individuals overcome addiction and achieve long-term recovery. Your expertise and support will make a significant impact on the lives of those struggling with substance abuse.
Duties:
- Conduct diagnostic evaluations to assess the severity of addiction and develop personalized treatment plans
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions to address the underlying causes of addiction and promote behavioral changes
- Utilize evidence-based therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and behavioral therapy to facilitate recovery
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including social workers, addiction medicine specialists, and medical doctors, to ensure comprehensive patient care
- Assist clients in developing relapse prevention strategies and coping mechanisms to maintain sobriety
- Monitor progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in compliance with legal and ethical standards
- Provide case management services to help clients access additional resources and support systems
Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Counseling
-Experience in children and adolescents
- Bilingual English and Spanish
- Valid certification or licensure as a Substance Abuse Counselor (e.g., CADC, LADC)
- Proficiency in using ICD-9 codes for diagnostic purposes
- Minimum 2 years of experience in substance abuse
- Previous experience in addiction counseling or related field preferred
- Knowledge of behavioral therapy techniques and addiction treatment modalities
- Familiarity with case management principles and practices
- Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with clients
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines
