GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Design Engineer has responsibility for effective project and product management skills and by skillsets related to robust, high amperage, and/or unique PCB applications.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Manage all aspects of project assignments including systems design, material and component selection, and vendor qualification related to PCB applications for power distribution and control.
2. Develop ideas into meaningful concepts and carry through to product realization and management of product life cycle thereafter.
3. Develop bills of material, assembly routers, and manufacturing tool sets as required.
4. Design, develop and test embedded software for C/C programming languages with a focus on CAN/J1939 systems
5. Maintain accurate and controlled data files.
6. Keep project status reporting up to date for effective communication with management and project team members.
7. Participate in management, departmental, engineering, and project team meetings as required to ensure continued progress toward objective and effective communication of same to management and others within the organization.
8. Travel as required in support of sales and marketing, customer service, and manufacturing.
9. Other activities as required.

Job Skills & Qualifications:

Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 system and processes

1. Excellent communication, presentation and teamwork skills in order to communicate with customer and to team up with the hardware engineers as well as sales engineers.
2. Excellent computer skills including word processing, internet, databases and spreadsheets.
3. Ability to manage several assignments simultaneously.
4. Team player with organizational skills, and ability to work with distractions.

Education and Experience

4-year Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering degree or related field of study.

Experience with PCB design, power electronics and layout software (i.e. Altium - preferred, Mentor Graphics Expedition, PADS) from product idea to series production.

Experience with mechanical design software a plus (i.e. SolidWorks).

Experience with embedded software design (i.e. C/C ).

Experience with CAN/J1939 is a plus.

Experience working in an electronic manufacturing environment, preferred.
