The Interlake Steamship Company is Hiring a Safety Technician Near Middleburg, OH
Primary Responsibilities
- Inspect ships and shoreside facilities for conformity with Interlake Maritimes Services and regulatory requirements.
- Provide health and safety training to supplement existing training programs.
- Coordination of maintenance of life safety equipment.
- Monitor and assist with Corrective Action Requests.
- Provide technical safety assistance to shipboard crews.
- Assist in accident, injury, and illness investigations.
- Assist the Manager of Health and Safety in program management tasks, as needed.
- Minimum education and experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent, and
- Any Designation issued by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals or
- 2 years of professional safety experience (maritime preferred), or
- 4 years as an AB or QMED or higher (internal candidates only)
- Effectively read and write in English
- Able to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC)
- Maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Certified First Aid Trainer (preferred).
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experienced with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (preferred).
- Travel 25% - 50%
- Primarily working in shipboard and industrial environments. Must be able to:
- Climb ladders and stairs.
- Squat and crawl.
- Ability to access confined spaces.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Outside in all weather conditions and temperatures.
