Human Resource Manager position available for Middletown, CT Food Manufacturing company. This is a direct hire opportunity.

Hours 8am-430pm

Job Summary:The Human Resource Manager strategic direction and support to the management and assist with the implementation of new and current policies. Support operations to ensure safety and compliance, labor recruitment and retention strategies, compensation, benefits administration, and performance management.
Supervisory Responsibilities:1. Human Resources Specialist and Payroll (who also serves as Accts Receivable part time)

1. Contributing member of the executive management team that sets policy and company direction. Assist and advise managers about Human Resources and employee relations issues.
2. Be familiar with federal and state employment laws so that policies, procedures, and reporting compliance. Attend conferences, meetings, webinars, and training opportunities to keep current with legislation.
3. Generate timely state and federal reports, as mandated, such as Affirmative Action Plan, yearly OSHA reporting, Equal Employment Opportunity report, and Family Medical Leave.
4. Represent company at personnel related hearings such as unemployment, workers' compensation, and other investigations by knowing the laws, issues, and appropriate documentation.
5. Manage the compensation process to include recommendation of pay rates, consistency within job groups, provide market job comparisons and analysis, exempt and non-exempt classifications, current job descriptions and data for managers to execute the overall yearly merit program.
6. Manage the overall employment process to include compliant advertising, resume review, interview process, background checks, job offer documentation, defensible I-9's, job postings, new employee orientation, poor performance documentation, COBRA, and termination paperwork. Create and maintain proper employment files and filing procedures.
7. Manage the workers' compensation program with the goal of reducing injuries and MOD rates. Make safety recommendations to management after analyzing accident types, keep appropriate records, including recordables, near misses and first report of injury, attend hearings, and work with insurance adjusters to expedite claims.
8. Manage the yearly open enrollment benefit process working with benefit brokers, reviewing benefit proposals, and making recommendations to CFO. Implement the yearly selected benefit program. Make recommendations for additional programs or improvements to current programs like the 401 (k), PTO and EAP. Correctly manage mandated benefits like COBRA, FMLA, HIPPA.
9. Develop and implement special programs such as Town meetings, employee recognition, employee training, company fun days, and perfect attendance rewards.
10. Manage employee relations to include management training, performance management, disciplinary actions, employee complaints, and employee anti-harassment to ensure fair and consistent treatment.
11. Oversee payroll, pay methods, Fair Labor Standard Act compliance, overtime and travel pay and other compliance matters.
12. Manage multiple communication activities to include company announcements utilizing digital signage, employee meetings, company fun events, recognition, posters, e-mail news, bulletin boards and State and Federal required postings.
13. Manage internal documents like policy and procedures and employee handbook updates
14. Perform all tasks in a safe manner. Report all safety hazards to the Director of operations so that corrective action can be taken immediately.
15. Good attendance and reporting to work on-time is required to do this job satisfactorily.

Education and Experience:1. Associates Degree (two-year college or technical school)
2. 5 plus years of experience in an HR environment, PHR preferred
3. Proficient in Work, Excel, Power Point
Physical Requirements:1. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
2. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
