Position Description:

In the role of a Epidemiologist you will be working in the Cancer Center.
PurposeThe mission of the Geospatial, Epidemiology & Outcomes Shared Resource (GEOSR) is to enable Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Center (MCWCC) members to harness, analyze, and use clinical, registry, geospatial, and electronic health records data efficiently and address the cancer burden in the MCWCC Catchment Area, Southeastern Wisconsin, Wisconsin and nationally. GEOSR services provide: 1) up-to-date information on the cancer burden locally, regionally and nationally; 2) accessible real-world patient clinical data to conduct cancer outcomes research; 3) geospatial analysis support and geographic information systems (GIS) services; and 4) an integrated cancer research data repository (ICDR) for clinical, multi-omics, biobehavioral, socioeconomic and geographic residency data sets on patients with cancer.
We seek an epidemiologist to join our team. Broadly, this person will collaborate with medical and scientific researchers in study design, and carryout the acquisition of databases, collection, management and analysis of data, interpretation of results, preparation of reports, and publication of research.
Primary Functions
  • Manage and prepare data to report findings on cancer epidemiology, including incidence, mortality, risk factors, disparities, treatment, and outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the team as well as external customers and clients in the development of scientifically sound, feasible study and project designs.
  • Guide and assist with database acquisition applications and data use agreements.
  • Develop data collection, validation, and analysis tools to meet the requirements of each project.
  • Clean and prepare databases and construct analytic cohorts.
  • Review data for consistency, accuracy, and quality. Document and resolve data inconsistencies.
  • Provide expertise in the development and maintenance of data management systems that optimize the compilation, calculation, and efficiency of statistical analyses and reporting.
  • Provide consultation on statistical methods, database construction and variable creation.
  • Perform necessary analyses and compile, generate, and disseminate summarized results using tables, graphs, and figures.
  • Assist in the preparation of research proposals, writing of grants and scientific publications, providing expertise and content regarding the study design and statistical techniques to be used.
Preferred Schedule:
Monday - Friday 8:00-4:30
Position Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:Appropriate experience may be substituted for education on an equivalent basis.
Minimum Required Education: Master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, or biostatistics
Minimum Required Experience: 1 year
Preferred Experience: 3 years
Field: Cancer research, large tumor registry and administrative databases (SEER, NAACCR, Medicare), health sciences, health services research, epidemiology/social sciences, biostatistics.
