About the Role:

As an Automation Technician, you'll be at the forefront of innovation and efficiency in our glass bottle manufacturing factory. Your role will be dynamic and diverse, encompassing the maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of material handling control systems and equipment. You'll collaborate closely with the Operations Maintenance team, leveraging your expertise to design creative solutions for complex challenges and manage impactful projects. Additionally, you'll play a pivotal role in training and mentoring maintenance technicians, ensuring our team remains at the cutting edge of automation technology.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure compliance with all safety standards and protocols relevant to the role.
• Maintain and optimize automation systems throughout the glass container manufacturing plant, including batching, melting, conditioning, forming, annealing, conveying, inspection, and packaging machines.
• Specialize in new packaging and palletizing equipment, including robotic palletizers (Fanuc / Rockwell Automation) and automatic pallet conveying systems.
• Facilitate networking and communication between various systems, such as Ethernet, GE iFix, and Rockwell Automation Control Logix/Compact Logix.
• Provide support for electronic systems integration with the IT group, including pallet tracking and labeling.
• Act as the first level of escalation support for control systems within the plant.
• Apply expertise in material handling and electronic control systems to maximize building utilization and equipment reliability.
• Conduct assessments of control systems to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Collaborate with Facility Operations leadership, equipment vendors, and parts suppliers to plan and coordinate new technology installations, serving as a technical consultant for capital projects.
• Communicate technical issues and project timelines effectively with building leadership, operations, and the maintenance team.
• Develop training plans for Maintenance Technicians to enhance their skills and proficiency in automation systems.

Basic Qualifications:

• Associate's degree in Electronic Technology or equivalent experience.
• 5 years of experience in motor controls, including motor starts, variable frequency drives, DC drives, and standard electrical components.
• 5 years of experience in programming HMI components.
• 5 years of experience in Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) programming.
• 5 years of experience in robotics system components and controls.
• 3 years of experience with SCADA systems and KPIs.
• Proficiency in interpreting and modifying mechanical and electrical drawings.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 4 years of experience in the Electrical fields or Control Systems development, troubleshooting, and programming.
• 4 years of experience supporting advanced automation controls systems maintenance and development.
• 3 years of experience supporting a wide range of conveyors and sortation systems.
• Leadership and project management experience.
• Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).

Physical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

• Ability to reach overhead, kneel, squat, climb steps/ladders and frequently lift a maximum of 50 lbs. of equipment
• Ability to perform tasks wearing appropriate or required PPE, which may include but is not limited to hard hat, face mask, face shield, and composite toe shoes.
• Regularly required to crouch or bend and reach to install and move equipment
• Ability to move between departments, floors.
• Must be able to work in an environment with fluctuating temperatures
• Regularly required to type on a computer for 1-2 hours per day

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $57,694.00 - $62,871.00 per year
