Under the general supervision of the Building Official/Zoning Administrator, inspects new and existing plumbing and mechanical systems to assure compliance with codes and ordinances. Conducts construction plan reviews and on-site inspections of both commercial and residential properties and investigates citizen complaints concerning drainage and sewer violations. Performs rental and blight inspections to ensure compliance with City rental and blight ordinances. Works cooperatively with other trade inspectors. Requirements include State of Michigan certifications as a Plumbing Inspector, Mechanical Inspector and Plan Reviewer, a journeyman’s plumbing license, a State of Michigan mechanical license, thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of plumbing and mechanical plan review and skill in conducting construction site inspections. Skill in interpreting, applying and enforcing applicable codes and ordinances. Ability to perform visual reviews of permit applications and blueprints, and inspections of construction sites.
Applicants must reside within 20 miles of City boundaries within one year of employment. Pay between $22.41 - $33.63 Commensurate with experience.
