Accountant/CPA
Summary
Computes and analyzes financial information; prepares financial reports and tax returns for clients.
Job Duties
1. Accounting
· Prepares financial reports (e.g., balance sheet, profit & loss statement, etc.) by recording financial activities in proper accounts
· Analyzes clients’ records of financial transactions to determine accuracy and makes corrections when necessary
· Computes taxes owed and ensures compliance with tax payments, reporting, and other tax requirements
· Produces compiled and reviewed financial statements for financial institutions and other users
· Assists clients with their internal accounting
2. Tax preparation
· Reviews financial records to prepare returns
· Computes taxes owed and completes entries on forms, following tax form instructions and tax tables
· Consults tax law handbook or bulletins to determine procedure for preparation of atypical returns
· Responsible for preparation of Forms 1120,1120-S,1065, and 1040
3. Decision making and evaluation
· Determines how to prioritize and manage projects for self and clients in order to be most productive
· Considers the costs, benefits, strengths, and weaknesses of potential approaches to choose the most appropriate one
· Applies the most appropriate IRS rules and regulations
· Monitors/assesses performance of self and clients to make improvements
· Reviews complex problems and related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
4. Client interaction
· Communicates with and positively represents the company to clients and the public
· Understands and asks appropriate questions to determine true tax liability
· Deals with clients appropriately in terms of answering questions, maintaining open communication, and demonstrating willingness to meet the clients’ needs
· Meets with clients as needed to understand operations and discuss new business
· Assists clients with applications specific to their business needs.
5. Office interaction
· Provides information to partners/supervisors and coworkers; interacts as needed (e.g., problem solving or reporting work)
· Provides assistance/training to coworkers when needed.
6. Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills
· Accounting/Business Degree, Prefer CPA certified
· Minimum of three years experience in accounting environment preferred
· Competent with accounting software and adapts to novel situations (e.g., software of clients)
· Stays up to date with tax laws
