Job: PCT Classification: Hourly/Non-Exempt Job Category: 3 Technicians Position Summary Under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse, and accountable to the licensed nursing staff member, the Patient Care Tech assists in providing patient care, documents appropriately and maintains a clean environment. Essential Functions -Provides care appropriate to the age of the population served. -Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of human growth and development. -Provides proper personal hygiene and care for all patients. -Accurately measures and records vital signs, weights, and intake/output. -Recognizes abnormal findings and reports such findings appropriately. -Demonstrates knowledge of proper transfer techniques. -Consistently provides preventative skin care measures to all patients. -Feeds patients, encourages adequate nutrition and monitors diets. -Properly collects specimens as directed. -Utilizes special beds appropriately. -Applies heat and cold therapy. -Performs approved procedures appropriately under direct supervision. -Performs appropriate hand hygiene before and after all patient contact. -Understands current policies and procedures regarding the use of personal protective equipment and is able to put on and remove PPE appropriately, discarding according to the hospital's policy. -Give work status report to on-coming staff at shift change. -Order supplies for unit including floor stock and nutrition room stock. -Make copies of documentation as needed. -Adheres to and follows all patient experience initiatives. -Reports to and departs from work on time and as scheduled. -Performs other duties as assigned. -Must be able to deal with stress while maintaining composure. -Follows and adheres to TRMC vaccine policy(s) mandated by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Work Experience -One year of experience in a clinical setting is preferred. Education -Texas State Nursing Aide Certification and Patient Care Technician Certification required. -BLS (Basic Life Support) required within 30 days of hire date.
