Job Summary:

The Inventory Specialist plays a critical role in maintaining the optimal flow of materials and supplies necessary for Cox Concrete Products operations, particularly in supporting our proactive maintenance initiatives. This role is essential in ensuring that inventory levels are accurately monitored and managed to prevent both overstock and shortages, thereby contributing to the efficiency and productivity of Cox Concrete Products. The Inventory Specialist will collaborate closely with various departments, including maintenance, procurement, and finance, to streamline inventory processes and enhance overall operational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurate Record-Keeping: Ensure that all inventory transactions are recorded accurately in the inventory management system. This includes tracking the receipt of new materials, issuance of supplies to different departments, and the disposal of obsolete or damaged items
  • Real-Time Inventory Tracking: Utilize advanced inventory management software to monitor inventory levels in real time. This helps maintain precise stock counts and facilitates quick adjustments as needed.
  • Inventory Optimization: Implement strategies to optimize inventory levels, balancing the need to minimize carrying costs with the necessity of having sufficient stock to meet demand. This includes setting appropriate reorder points and safety stock levels.
  • Cycle Counting: Conduct regular cycle counts to verify the accuracy of inventory records. This involves counting a subset of inventory items on a rotating basis to ensure that records are consistently accurate without the need for a full physical inventory count.
  • Inventory Audits: Perform comprehensive inventory audits periodically to identify and rectify discrepancies. This includes investigating and resolving variances between physical counts and system records.
  • Stock Rotation: Ensure that inventory is rotated properly to prevent obsolescence and waste. This includes implementing FIFO or other relevant inventory rotation practices.
  • Demand Forecasting: Collaborate with the procurement and sales teams to forecast future inventory needs based on historical data, upcoming projects, and seasonal trends. This proactive approach helps in anticipating demand and avoiding stockouts.
  • Inventory Reporting: Generate detailed inventory reports for management, highlighting key metrics such as inventory turnover, days of inventory on hand, and discrepancies. Use these reports to provide insights and recommendations for improving the inventory management process.
  • Regulatory Adherence: Ensure all inventory practices comply with local, state, and federal regulations. Stay updated on regulatory changes and adjust inventory practices accordingly to maintain compliance.
  • Safety Protocols: Prioritize safety in all equipment and tool operations, adhering to company safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safe work practices to prevent accidents and injuries. Participate in safety training programs and promote a culture of safety awareness among team members.

Additional Duties

  • Assisting the Yard Manager with customer order fulfillment
  • Completing essential tasks to ensure daily goals are being met.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in inventory management or a related field. Forklift experience required

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
