Reporting to the Software Development Manager - Germany, and as an integral part of Questel’s Business Intelligence Team, this role is responsible to help provide data governance, reporting, architecture, technical recommendations and analysis. The ideal candidate will be passionate about providing business intelligence, data analysis and solving difficult data related problems with a strong background in Finance and/or Accounting. This role will be specifically focused on the needs of our Questel Annuity business and will work in conjunction with our global BI team to ensure strategy and solution alignment on BI topics.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Global BI Team and local management on BI solution standards and architecture
  • Work with external groups in Germany such as Finance, Accounting, FPA etc. to provide BI solutions
  • Translate business needs to technical specifications and implement as necessary per priority
  • Evaluate and improve existing implemented BI solutions and migrate as necessary to global standards
  • Collaborate with software development as needed to enrich the reporting environment, trouble shoot data concerns, and ensure a high degree of overall data integrity and reporting
  • Develop and execute database queries and conduct deep analysis
  • Provide ETL, Data Warehouse Management, Analysis, Reporting
  • Perform simple to very complex and detailed data trouble shooting
  • Aide in establishing a self service environment to business personnel for BI needs
  • Become a student of the business that is completely knowledgeable in it's operation and how BI can provide value
  • Grow personally and have fun

  • 3 years business intelligence experience directly for Accounting/Finance
  • Understanding of Accounting/Finance principles as applied to business
  • Fluency in both English and German
  • Capability to traverse the entire technology stack of a BI Solution
  • Expert level experience with MS Office specifically Excel
  • MS Power BI
  • SQL Server
  • Analysis Services
  • Strong analysis skills with attention to detail
  • Adept problem solver and troubleshooter

Soft skills

  • Ability to work with little supervision and in a collaborative environment
  • Strong communication skills; able to work effectively and directly with business teams
  • Proven abilities to take initiative and be innovative
  • Capable of translating Technical needs to non Technical people
  • Collaborates well with anyone needed at any level
