Basic Function
Assist with the academic instruction and safety of children in the classroom under the supervision of the Site Director or Preschool Director.
Responsibilities
1. Support the centers philosophy and administrative policies.
2. Work co-operatively with all staff and foster team work.
3. Assist teacher in supervision of children.
4. Assist to ensure that the Desired Results Assessment Instrument requirements are met and work with all teaching staff and Directors to insure individual needs of children are met and appropriate evidence is collected for DRDP.
5. Work with teacher to developmentally assess each child.
6. Work with teacher to plan developmentally appropriate curriculum.
7. Attend staff meetings and school functions as required.
8. Interact and redirect with children in a positive and respectful manner. Provide opportunities for children to experience success.
9. Maintain accurate records including attendance, daily tracking, sign in sheets, meal counts, inventories, child observations, and medication log.
10. Maintain room in a neat, clean and orderly manner.
11. Assure each child has their own clean blanket, sheet and sanitized cot if applicable.
12. Keep playground free of debris, water fountains unclogged and put toys away after each use.
13. Report broken/dangerous toys to classroom teacher.
14. Assist children with self-help skills and personal hygiene throughout the day.
15. Assist teacher with report about child’s day including highlights, changes in eating or sleeping patterns and injuries.
16. Report suspicious child bruises or injuries to Director.
17. Assist teacher in planning specific activities and events to encourage parent involvement and participation.
18. Report to Director other staff member(s) suspected of physical and/or emotional abuse.
19. Assist with implementation of Title 22 requirements for Health and Safety regulations.
20. Complete EES Core Training within the first year of employment with EES.
21. Review and follow EES employee handbook.

Degree: High School Diploma or Equivalent
12 ECE Units Preferred
The candidate must have 6-12 Early Childhood Education units or an Associate Teacher Permit
Complete Educational Enrichment Systems core training within 1 year of employment
Certifications/Licenses
Complete and pass physical, negative TB test
CPR & First Aid certified
Annual proof of influenza vaccine, (or a statement declining)
Proof of pertussis and measles immunizations
Fingerprint and Criminal Record clearance required. FBI and child abuse index.
Complete and pass CDSS Mandated Reporter Certification
Valid Driver’s License and proof of current insurance if driving on behalf of EES
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Child development center classroom environment, position may require maintaining physical condition necessary for walking, bending, sitting on the floor, standing for long periods of time and lifting children and materials as necessary.
The daily environment will require extensive standing, bending at the waist, squatting, up and down movement with your legs, crawling, kneeling, twisting, walking, lifting, reaching above and below shoulders, climbing and jumping. There will be physical activities performed with the children that include jumping jacks, running, etc.
There will be times you may be performing work under stressful conditions.
