Duties
  • You will serve as a Software Engineer within the DNA25 Emergent Training Technologies Branch.
  • You will assist scientists and engineers in providing expert technical engineering advise on a wide variety of issues dealing with Integrated Training Systems on team-based projects and providing technical oversight and direction.
  • You will execute tasking required to: compile computer program builds, software installations, testing, and field maintenance for Integrated Training Systems.
  • You will apply advanced computer science skills to evaluate, predict, and advise on effective ways for an organization to improve processes.
  • You will perform Integrated Training Systems for material solution analysis/design, technology development, engineering, and manufacturing development, test and evaluation, production and deployment, and life cycle sustainment.
  • You will support and/or lead Integrated Training Systems test and/or laboratory events.

EducationApplicants Must Meet At Least One Of The Following Positive Education Qualifications Requirements Of The Office Of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Professional Engineering Series (08XX) - Degree: A professional engineering degree from an ABET-accredited college or university; OR a degree with curriculum in differential and integral calculus, with additional courses in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics; or electronics; OR Professional Engineering Series (08XX) - Substitution of Education/Experience: A combination of education and experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering; and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following: (a) professional registration, (b) evidence of successfully passing the Engineer-in-Training (EIT) examination; (c) successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified above; or (d) successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in engineering technology or in an appropriate professional field, e.g., physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a degree in engineering provided that it included at least 1 year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. OPM guidance indicates that there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience.   • 1560-Data Science Series: A degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.
Additional InformationThis position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The ND-4 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-12 and GS-13.
This announcement uses the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Science and Technology Reinvention Laboratory (STRL) Direct Hire Authorities for Bachelor's Degrees to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
