Mountain Valley Child and Family Services is Hiring a Kitchen Aide Near Nevada, CA

Mountain Valley Child and Family Services (MVCFS) provides individualized treatment for troubled youth and teens, ages 10-21 in residential treatment in Nevada City and Sacramento, and TBS services throughout the Bay area.
Our 900-acre ranch outside Nevada City, CA provides a therapeutic setting where we facilitate individual and group activities to support the goals of our residential program. The ranch is an ideal environment for troubled youth to learn about themselves and deal with their behavioral and emotional challenges by exploring new interests such as tending gardens and caring for animals.MVCFS is currently seeking Kitchen Staff at our Nevada City location. Kitchen Staff are responsible for the safe food handling, food preparation, and nutritional needs of the MVCFS clients.
ResponsibilitiesPlan and prepare menus to ensure healthy and nutritionally sound meals
Prepare shopping lists and oversee the purchase of all food items and kitchen supplies
Ensure proper and safe storage of food, perishable and otherwise, and kitchen supplies
Perform weekly inventory of food items and kitchen supplies
Ensure inventory of perishable / nonperishable food items is maintained in accordance with applicable state and federal requirements
Ensure clients have access to fruit, milk, and healthy snacks between meal periods
Ensure alternate healthy meals are available to clients with special dietary needs
Ensure meals are prepared using health conscious methods
Maintain kitchen, food storage areas, and food preparation areas in a manner consistent with the highest standards of cleanliness and orderliness
Monitor kitchen physical plant to ensure compliance with CCL, County Health, and Federal Food Programs
Supervise and train clients in work activity projects
Perform other duties as assigned
Know and follow all MVCFS policies and procedures

Qualifications
  • High school diploma.
  • Experience in food preparation.
  • Knowledge of the nutritional needs of children.
  • Pleasant personality and ability to work harmoniously with co-workers.
  • Knowledge of safe food handling procedures.
  • Valid California Driver's License
