Overview:

Appleton Finn is engaged on a search for a National Sales Director for our client, a prestigious indie beauty brand. We are seeking an individual with extensive experience in the prestige beauty sector, coupled with a background in high-growth or startup environments. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success working with lean and scrappy teams to achieve significant sales growth and establish strong relationships with specialty prestige retailers.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and execute a comprehensive national sales strategy to achieve and exceed sales targets.
  2. Lead and mentor a small, high-performing sales team, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment.
  3. Identify and secure new business opportunities within specialty prestige retailers.
  4. Cultivate strong, long-term relationships with key accounts and partners.
  5. Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify growth opportunities.
  6. Oversee the management of existing accounts, ensuring exceptional service and satisfaction.
  7. Collaborate with retailers to plan and execute promotional activities, product launches, and merchandising initiatives.
  8. Analyze sales data to optimize account performance and develop action plans for underperforming areas.
  9. Collaborate with marketing, product development, and operations teams to align sales strategies with overall business objectives.
  10. Prepare regular sales reports and forecasts for senior management, utilizing CRM and other sales tools to track performance and inform decision-making.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  2. Minimum of 7 years of sales experience in the beauty industry, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  3. Proven success in developing and executing sales strategies in a high-growth or startup environment.
  4. Strong network and experience with specialty prestige retailers.
  5. Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  6. Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
  7. Proficiency in sales analytics and CRM software.
