Duties:
- Install meter box, make water/sewer taps and service connections
- Install, service, and test water meters and meter yokes
- Perform general maintenance and repair work on public infrastructure, including roads, sidewalks, and buildings
- Operate and maintain various types of equipment and machinery, such as trucks, loaders, and power tools
- Assist with the installation and maintenance of utilities, such as water and sewer lines
- Assist with reading meters
- Operate trucks, jackhammers, tampers, mowers and weed eater
- Conduct routine inspections to identify and address any safety hazards or maintenance issues
- Respond to emergency situations, such as severe weather events or accidents, to ensure public safety
- Operate truck to remove snow from streets and parking lot
- Perform routine maintenance on town vehicles; change oil/filters
- Previous experience in construction or maintenance work is preferred
- Electrical experience a plus
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor in various weather condition
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interact professionally with the public
Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Water/Wastewater experience
- Excavator/heavy equipment experience
- Ability to work 2 weeks on call each month reading wells on weekends/holidays
- High school diploma or GED
Desired:
- CDL license
- Water/Wastewater certifications
- Landscape/carpentry experience
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, etc
- Must be able to perform heavy work exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally; 50 pounds of force frequently, and 20 pounds constantly to move objects
- Must possess visual acuity to operate equipment such as trucks, excavator, tampers, varied hand tools in a safe manner, and to read gauges
