Announcement Open Until Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 5pm Grade 16: Salary DOQ Dept/Div: Courts/N/A--- FLSA Status: Non- Exempt
General Definition of Work Performs difficult skilled administrative support work managing the functions and accountability of the Clerk of Court department, coordinating court schedules, supervising the work of other Deputy Court Clerks, preparing court orders, maintaining records and files, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the general direction of the Clerk of Court, assigned Judge or Court Manager as assigned. Limited supervision is exercised over Deputy Clerk I, Deputy Clerk II, and Contract Personnel as assigned.

Essential FunctionsReviews and enters hearings, motions, arrests, advisements, and dispositional information into computer system.
Enters all criminal cases and related updates in computer system including appeals, show causes, and capias.
Provides oversight to department personnel; assigns, directs, trains, and inspects the work of staff; coaches and counsels staff; develops staff schedules, maintains timesheets, and leave requests.
Forwards dispositions and processes appropriate information to Georgia Department of Corrections and to Georgia Crime Information Center.
Maintains and scans warrants into computer system.
Prepares and publishes court calendars.
Attends court; takes notes during trials.
Provides needed assistance in other courts or departments; assists Intake Officers, Deputy Court Clerks, Judges, Attorneys, and other agencies related to legal matters.
Maintains jury pool information; summons and notifies jurors for service; provides oversight of juries during jury selection and trials.
Receipts, records, processes, indexes, and reproduces all records pertaining to real and personal property bought, sold, conveyed, or encumbered in the County.
Assists the public with records requests for civil and criminal documents, liens, plats, and real estate records.
Issues and approves Notary Public applications and certificates; issues oath to Notary and collects appropriate fees.
Receipts, deposits, invests, and disburses garnishment payments and condemnation funds, surplus funds, and trust funds as required by court order.
Prepares and types warrants, appeals, and other court related documents.
Reconciles bank statements and prepares appropriate financial reports as necessary.
Encourages and promotes a culture of excellent customer service.
Knowledge, Skills And AbilitiesComprehensive knowledge of the office methods, procedures and practices of the Office of the Clerk of Court; thorough knowledge of laws contained within the Official Code of Georgia; thorough knowledge of applicable policies and procedures; thorough knowledge of business English, spelling and arithmetic; comprehensive knowledge of department policies and procedures; ability to operate standard office equipment and associated software; ability to communicate ideas effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to plan and supervise the work of subordinates; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Court officials, associates, and the general public.
Education And ExperienceBachelor's degree with coursework in criminal justice, business administration, or related field and considerable experience in office/court administration and some supervisory experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical RequirementsThis work requires the frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and the occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work regularly requires speaking or hearing and using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently requires sitting and repetitive motions and occasionally requires standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms and lifting; work has standard vision requirements; no special vocal communication skills are required; no special hearing perception is required; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data; work has no exposure to environmental conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
Special RequirementsMay require specific certifications dependent on court assignment.
Favorable background history as determined by review of local, State and Federal records.
