We are hiring for the following:

Position: Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in a Primary Care Discipline (FNP, AGNP, ENP, or similar)

Schedule: Catawba County Detention Facility one day a week (6 hours)

Location: Newton, NC

Responsibilities:

• Obtain detailed history and perform physical examinations for assigned patients
• Provide direct patient care to patients in a correctional setting for both acute and chronic medical conditions
• Write appropriate orders
• Perform emergency, lifesaving procedures in cases such as cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, massive hemorrhage, or other medical emergencies
• Notify supervising or collaborating Physician regarding any unusual or unexpected events or problems requiring direct Physician consultation
• Practice safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods
• Document promptly and properly
• Provide health education to patients
• Respond to requests from security staff and MEDIKO staff as appropriate
• Observe facility guidelines at all times and in all interactions with custody staff, patients, MEDIKO staff, and others with reason to be in the medical unit
• Provide on-call services as assigned by the facility and/or company needs

Qualifications

• Active license as Physician Assistant with Certification in a Primary Care discipline; or hold APRN/ARNP (or equivalent) from the State of North Carolina
• Must hold or obtain DEA registration prior to start date
• Must have current CPR/BLS prior to start date
