Job Description
The Accounts Payable Specialist will be responsible for managing all aspects of accounts payable specific to insurance-related transactions. The primary duties will include processing invoices, verifying billing accuracy, reconciling accounts, and ensuring timely payments to insurance companies. The A/P Specialist must stay abreast of all departmental procedures and accounting practices and must consistently maintain compliance with all related Insurance Agency and Bank policies, standardized procedures and regulations.

Responsibilities- Process incoming invoices from insurance companies promptly and accurately.
- Verify the accuracy of billing statements and ensure compliance with contract terms.
- Reconcile accounts payable transactions with insurance records and resolve discrepancies as needed.
- Prioritize and manage payment schedules to ensure timely disbursement of funds.
- Communicate effectively with insurance providers to address inquiries and resolve payment issues.
- Maintain detailed and organized records of all transactions and correspondence.
- Collaborate with internal departments to facilitate smooth payment processes.
- Assist in month-end closing activities related to accounts payable.
- Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience strongly preferred; Insurance experience preferred.
- Understanding of basic accounting principles and practices. This includes knowledge of accounts payable processes, general ledger entries, and financial reporting.
- Ability to analyze invoices and other financial documents to identify errors and discrepancies that may require further investigation.
- Time management skills to meet deadlines for invoice processing and payments.
- Proficient with Word, Excel and Outlook.
- 25% availability to travel outside of a 25-mile radius.
- Ability to sit, drive, bend, transfer between locations, answer the phone and perform computer input.
