Full Job Description
Retinal and Ophthalmic Consultants (“ROC”) is in search of an Ophthalmic Technician to provide support to our physicians, provide direct patient care, and perform clinical and administrative tasks. The ideal candidate is experienced and knowledgeable in OCT and visual fields; they are ethical, patient focused, takes pride in their work, has strong communication skills, and is a dependable team player. Our technicians must have the ability to travel to each of our three locations, Northfield, NJ, Cape May Courthouse, NJ, and Vineland, NJ. - As an ROC technician you will be expected to perform the following duties:
- Interview patients for medical history, ocular history, and obtain appropriate documentation.
- Electronic Medical Records (“EMR”) scribing.
- Perform preliminary testing such as and not limited to visual acuity, pupillary responses, confrontation visual fields, motility, color vision, and applanation tonometry.
- Perform diagnostic testing such as and not limited to automated perimetry, OCT, A scans, ophthalmic photography, and fluorescein angiography.
- Assist in minor surgery procedures such as and not limited to laser surgery, and Injections.
- Monitor and facilitate patient flow by collaborating with staff.
- Administer eye drops as required by the physician.
- Prepare and sanitize patient rooms according to practice policy and procedures.
- Greet/escort patients to the exam room, educate patients regarding the procedure(s) to be performed.
- Review and file patient medical charts.
- Perform clinical and administrative duties.
- Comply with all practice procedures and protocols.
- Assist physicians and managers with miscellaneous projects/tasks as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma is required.
- Experience in the medical field is a plus.
- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant Certification is a plus.
