At Areté, we pride ourselves on pioneering advancements in the field of underwater acoustic sensor systems. We are currently seeking a Systems Engineer to join our team, someone who can bolster our science and engineering initiatives. This Systems Engineer will provide technical and systems engineering support to the Systems Engineering Integration & Test (SEIT) Lead, Engineering Manager (EM) and Program Manager (PM). The candidate will be responsible for system engineering processes to support system analysis, modeling, development, fabrication, assembly, testing, qualification, logistics support development, and planning required for the successful demonstration of a fully operational, production-ready system. Specifically, the candidate will be responsible for customer requirements’ analysis, decomposition, and allocation to hardware and software designers to include design trades and requirements change management. Candidate will also be responsible for requirements derivation, requirements traceability, systems integration and test, performance verification, and data analysis to join an agile hardware and software development team designing, building, and integrating active and passive electro-optical sensors. Candidate must be familiar with requirements development and should be able to perform decomposition, traceability, and requirements impacts through requirements analysis and requirements management practices and techniques in accordance with MIL-STD-961. Candidate should have knowledge of MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-882 and MIL-STD-483. Candidate must have experience and proficiency in the use of the IBM Rational DOORS tool. In addition, the candidate should be familiar with risk, issue, and opportunity management and mitigation techniques and tools such as risk cubes, waterfall diagrams, and mitigation plans in accordance with DoDI 8510.01. The candidate should have experience in writing test plans and procedures to verify system functional and performance requirements and validate operational Measures of Effectiveness (MOE) and Measures of Performance (MOP) metrics. The candidate must be able to communicate clearly both written and verbally. Candidate will prepare, participate, and present in technical briefings in accordance with IEEE 15288.2, such as SRR, PDR and CDR, to internal and external customers and is expected to write/support technical and cost proposal(s). This position is based out of Sonoma, CA and is an exempt full-time role.

Experiences And Background We Look For

• Master’s or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Acoustics, Applied Math, Applied Physics, or related field with 2 years of experience.
• Programming experience in MATLAB, Python, C , or other.
• Capacity to work in a team with minimal supervision and agility to work multiple potentially disparate projects simultaneously.
• Desire to learn.
• Proven capability to develop creative solutions to complex technical problems.
• Ability to communicate clearly both written and verbally.
• US citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance.

The salary range for this role is $170,000 to $200,000; however, Arete considers several factors when extending an offer of employment, including but not limited to: the position and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills. Other RequirementsU.S. citizenship is required to meet position eligibility.
Selected applicants will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
