Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Kennel Assistant/Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The Kennel Assistant will be responsible for providing care and support to animals in the hospital. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about animal care and veterinary medicine. On Saturday shifts, if we are seeing patients, this position changes to a veterinary assistant and you help with patients while the DVM's are seeing appointments. This position has the option of getting some extra veterinary assistant time when shifts open up during the day. This position also includes cleaning of the hospital at night. Duties would include general cleaning of different areas of the hospital.
Duties:
- Feed, water, and monitor the well-being of animals in the kennel, keeping detailed records
- Clean and sanitize kennels, cages, and animal living areas
- Walk dogs and provide exercise opportunities
- Administer medications as directed by veterinary staff
- Assist with grooming tasks such as bathing and brushing
- Monitor animal behavior and report any concerns to the DVM's and manager
-Vacuuming and mopping of the floors
-Emptying garbages
-Cleaning windows and doors
-Laundry
-Cleaning maintenance of all areas of the hospital
Qualifications:
- Experience with dog handling and animal care is a plus
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology and procedures is a plus
- Ability to lift and move animals of various sizes
-Ability to clean with attention to detail, to help keep the hospital clean and sterile
