Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager with a strong background in the construction/ real estate industry to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the accounting operations, ensuring compliance with GAAP, and providing financial insights to support decision-making processes. This role requires a thorough understanding of construction accounting, including job costing, contract management, and project financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management:

• Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
• Manage month-end and year-end close processes.
• Conduct variance analysis and provide detailed explanations for deviations.

Construction Accounting:

• Maintain job cost accounting records and monitor project budgets.
• Manage construction contracts, change orders, and billing.
• Ensure accurate and timely reporting of project costs and revenues.
• Reconcile job cost reports with general ledger.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

• Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
• Monitor budget performance and recommend corrective actions as necessary.

Compliance and Audit:

• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits.
• Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.

Team Leadership:

• Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing training and development opportunities.
• Foster a collaborative and efficient working environment.

Qualifications:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

Experience:

• Minimum of 4-7 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in the construction industry or real estate experience
• Proven experience in job costing, contract management, and project accounting.

Skills:

• Proficient in yardi a plus
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and data analysis.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
