Staff Accountant

Summary: The Staff Accountant is responsible for making general ledger entries, performing account reconciliations, maintaining financial records, preparing financial reports, and performing general accounting duties to support the Accounting Department. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of accounting principles. Overall, the ideal candidate will contribute to building a solid foundation for all accounting activities within the organization.

Job Functions:

  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare journal entries and ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Oversee Fixed Assets and related depreciation and amortization entries.
  • Research accounting irregularities and discrepancies as required.
  • Assist Accounts Payable function and serve in backup role.
  • Monitor collateral and pledging requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Support the month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare audit schedules and support external auditors during audits and examinations.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and financial policies.
  • Assist with tax notifications, requirements, and payments.
  • Maintain accurate records for tax purposes.
  • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends and provide insights for decision-making.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar field required, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of banking, accounting, or finance experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle).
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must complete all required training, including Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-money Laundering training, suitable to their position within the bank.
