Position:

Facilities Maintenance Technician (Full-Time; Non-Exempt)

 

Department:

Public Works - Facilities and Vehicle Maintenance

 

Job Summary:

The Facilities Maintenance Technician performs skilled and general duties in maintenance, repair,and minor construction work to ensure that City facilities and building systemsare properly maintained and remain operational. Duties cover a variety oftrades, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, lifesafety and security systems. Work is performed under the generalsupervision of the Fleet & Facilities Maintenance Superintendent, withday-to-day reporting to Facilities Maintenance Supervisor and does not havesupervisory responsibilities.

 

Salary:

$17.54 – $21.93 per hour depending upon qualifications and experience

Schedule:

  • Monday – Friday, 8 am – 4:30 pm
  • On-call flexibility required for occasional after-hour emergencies

 

EssentialFunctions:

  • Performs electrical, carpentry, painting, plumbing and mechanical work in the repair of maintenance of City equipment, buildings and facilities
  • Performs quality checks and troubleshooting on HVAC, plumbing, refrigeration, and electrical systems
  • Performs routine tasks related to a variety of building and equipment maintenance including the moving of equipment and furniture, lifts and or moves heavy objectives (up to 50 pounds on a regular basis)
  • Assists in planning and scheduling maintenance and repair activities
  • Computer use to maintain logs, inventories and purchasing records; responds to service requests and emails; monitors and manages work orders in the computerized maintenance management system; accesses and sets automated control systems
  • Works with or assists trade contractors to complete projects or complex repairs
  • Picks up and delivers parts, materials and supplies
  • Operates City vehicles and equipment
  • Essential duties consist of physical labor, requiring lifting, pulling, climbing, pushing and kneeling
  • Perform other duties as assigned in a positive manner which supports the vision and strategic objectives of the division/department and the entire organization of the City of Owasso

 

MinimumQualifications, Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Valid Oklahoma Driver license with good driving record
  • Building maintenance experience required
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • Licenses and/or experience in plumbing, electrical, boiler maintenance, and/or HVAC preferred
  • Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods
  • Ability to remain flexible particularly when emergencies arise
  • Work independently with minimal supervision
  • Interpret/work from blue prints, shop drawings, and sketches
  • Effective problem-solving abilities
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be well-organized and have ability to prioritize tasks
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with suppliers, contractors, vendors, regulatory agencies, and staff members

 

WorkingEnvironment and Physical Requirements:

Work will beperformed in a variety of environments including indoors and outdoors, and inall types of weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, hot and cold,and wet and/or humid conditions. The work environment may include exposure todrafts, noise, dust, grease, and traffic, as well as to sounds and noise levelsthat are distracting and uncomfortable on a daily basis

 

Tasksrequire ability to lift/push/pull/ and/or move up to 50 pounds on a regularbasis, and occasionally more than 100 pounds with mechanical or manualassistance, and typically involve some combination of walking, sitting, orstanding for extended periods of time, walking, balancing, climbing ladders,bending, crawling, crouching, feeling, handling, hearing, kneeling, reaching,repetitive motion, and mental and visual acuity. May often work in cramped workspaces that require getting into awkward positions; use finger dexterity tomake precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands tograsp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects; are often exposed tohazardous situations, conditions, and equipment; are exposed to contaminants suchas antifreeze and chemical degreasers on a daily basis; regularly wearprotective gear, such as goggles or earplugs
