The Assistant Controller provides essential accounting and administrative functions to the practice and related entities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and corporate financial information.
- Prepares daily bank deposit and delivers to bank.
- Reconciles monthly bank statements and monitors daily cash flow.
- Compiles monthly financial statements and report trends to Director of Finance/CEO.
- Processes accounts payable, payroll and files appropriately.
- Enters daily journal entries into accounting software
- Assist with conversion of current accounting system to Quickbooks.
- Completes consumer use tax returns.
- Generates and files 1099 forms at year end.
- Works closely with external CPA firm and Director of Finance in the preparation of tax returns and other year end work.
- Maintains corporate records.
- Fixed asset reconciliations.
- Perform any additional duties as may be assigned by Director of Finance or CEO.
- Compliance with HIPAA and OSHA.
Qualifications:
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with patients, employees, and the public.
- Knowledge of medical payment processing, medical terminology, and bookkeeping practices, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
- Skill in computer applications.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of financial matters.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
- Must be efficient multitasker.
- Requires accurate, detail-oriented individual.
- Possess the ability to work independently with little supervision.
Requirements:
Required
- Bachelors degree in accounting or related field
- Previous medical billing or bookkeeping experience.
- Previous computer experience using accounting softwares and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Preferred
- Masters degree preferred.
- CPA preferred.
- Previous healthcare experience a plus.

- Must be able to use a variety of office equipment including phone, copy machine, writing instruments, computer and fax.
