Under the general direction of the Senior Program Director, the Preschool Staff Associate is responsible for the planning, administration, supervision and development of all programming as it relates to the operation and management of Preschool and Preschool Day Camp.

The Staff Associate will also have responsibilities within the Early Learning Center at Fairport Baptist

Home including substitute teaching and opening / closing center as needed. The position is responsible for demonstrating YMCA leadership competencies to ensure the mission, purpose, image and core values of the YMCA of Greater Rochester is conveyed.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Overall responsibility for the coordination and delivery of Preschool and Preschool Day Camp programming.
• Responsible for hiring, training, supervision, and continued development of program staff in these programs.
• Provide substitute coverage for Early Learning Center staffing as needed / requested.
• Open or close the Early Learning Center as requested.
• Act as a liaison between parent and program regarding parent or participant concerns and work as the key leader to assure that a safe, fun and quality program is provided in all areas.
• General oversight of all on site programs in accordance with the policies, values, and standards established by the Association.
• Responsible for assisting with the financial development of Annual Campaign.
• Responsible for the overall facility appearance of the for Preschool and Preschool Day Camp equipment and areas.
• Serve as a member of the team, assisting with special events, and other programming as assigned.
• Implement programs that identify safety, quality, and excellent customer service as top priorities.
• Attend all required meetings and training.
• All other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years of age, possess an Associate’s degree or above in child development, elementary education, physical education, recreation or related field.
• Must have full range of knowledge in youth programming for preschool age children.
• Experience implementing and leading high quality programs.
• Must be self-motivated, hands on team leader with strong communications, networking and collaboration skills.
• High level of attention to detail and quality of programming, service and facilities.
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage several projects at once and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Polished, professional demeanor with excellent written and spoken communication skills.
• Must have current MAT, CPR / AED, Standard First Aid, O2 administration or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

• Ability to supervise children by sight and sound at all times.
• Ability to move quickly to react to safety issues in the setting (i.e. climbing, aggressive behavior).
• Ability to remain calm, objective and respectful in potentially stressful situations (i.e. crying upset child, upset parent, or upset staff).
• Ability to move around the room to assist children and supervise children with daily activities, social interaction, physical and emotional needs.
• Ability to lift young children and objects (food baskets and supplies) up to 40 lbs.
• Ability to work in all elements (i.e. outside in all weather)Ability to move from program site to branch or site to site, and is required to enter all YMCA environments including, program space, buses, schools, pools, and program area.

Salary Description $21 per hour
