Job Description

Allegheny RiverTrail Park is seeking dedicated and hardworking individuals to join our team as Seasonal Park Maintenance Workers. This position is crucial to ensuring that our park is clean, safe, and enjoyable for all visitors throughout the busy season.

Responsibilities

● Groundskeeping: Weed and maintain flower beds, trees, and other planted areas. Perform other landscaping tasks to maintain the appearance of the park.

● Litter Control: Collect and dispose of trash and recyclables from park grounds, including picnic areas, playgrounds, and walking paths.

● Facility Maintenance: Clean and restock restrooms, empty trash bins, and ensure park spaces and facilities are tidy and in good repair.

● Trail Maintenance: Clear debris from walking trails and ensure paths are safe for visitors.

● Minor Repairs: Perform minor repairs on park equipment and facilities.

● Safety Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of park areas to identify and report any potential safety hazards.

● Volunteer Coordination: Assist in coordinating and supervising volunteers for various park maintenance and beautification projects.

● Event Support: Assist with setting up, taking down, and supporting special events and activities in the park.

● Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall operation and maintenance of the park.

Qualifications

● Minimum Age: Must be at least 18 years old.

● Physical Fitness: Ability to perform manual labor, including lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, kneeling, and working outdoors in various weather conditions.

● Experience: Previous experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or maintenance is preferred but not required.

● Skills: Basic knowledge of hand tools and power equipment used in landscaping and maintenance.

● Availability: Must be available to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

● Communication: Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions. Experience in coordinating volunteers is a plus.

Working Conditions

● Environment: Work is primarily outdoors and may involve exposure to various weather conditions, including heat, rain, and cold.

● Schedule: This is a seasonal position with variable hours, typically during the spring, summer, and fall months.
