Job Description

Job Title: IT Business Analyst
Location: Painted Post, NY
Duration: 1 year

Description:

  • The IT Business Analyst takes a leadership role in engaging with internal business customers to elicit and manage requirements and participates in the delivery of solutions that meet or exceed business needs.
  • Collaboration with internal business customers, various internal IT service delivery departments and third-party implementation partners is an essential aspect of this role.

Primary IT Focus Area:

  • Develops and maintains appropriate knowledge of best practices, tools and processes for the design and deployment of custom public-facing web applications, mobile applications, collaboration platforms, and integration / interoperability of those technologies with enterprise business systems (SAP/PS).
  • Maintains working knowledge of industry standards and trends in customer facing commercial and collaboration solutions.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Utilizes IIBA/BABOK Business Analysis industry best practices and tools to elicit, document, analyze, validate, and prioritize business requirements using both Waterfall and Agile delivery models
  • Works with functional and technical teams to achieve business and project objectives
  • Develops a strong understanding of as-is and to-be business processes through self-directed relationship management
  • Collaborates with IT Solutions Architecture and IT Engineering teams to ensure solution & process designs meet or exceed business goals
  • Participates in solution selection initiatives using market research, RFI/RFP/RFQ and KT evaluation methodologies
  • Participates in and influences project delivery estimation activities
  • Analyzes, identifies and/or recommends opportunities for process and workflow efficiency gains and consistency
  • Ensures high-quality systems, processes and services
  • Participates in test planning of new solutions or system enhancements and coordinates/participates in the implementation process
  • May recommend project acceptance, modification or rejection based on test results

Required Education:

  • BS in Computer Science/Systems Management or other IT-related field

Required Experience:

  • 5 years working knowledge in the following areas:
  • Executing all deliverables of the Business Analyst role
  • Delivering solutions using the software delivery lifecycle management framework
  • Working in team environments to design, select/build and implement IT solutions for
  • Custom public-facing web applications
  • Collaboration solutions
  • Commercial, off-the-shelf applications
  • Mobile-friendly web applications
  • Solution selection & configuration of SAAS/Cloud applications and implementing automated integrations
  • Developing requirements in both Waterfall and Agile delivery models

Required Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of IIBA/BABOK Business Analysis industry standards
  • Requirements management in Waterfall, Agile and SDLC delivery models
  • Leading solution selection processes such as RFI/RFP and KT Analysis
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent technical and non-technical documentation skills
  • Ability to clearly interpret, translate and communicate technical and business processes and terminologies to ensure business value is clear and deliverable
  • Problem-solving, research and analytical abilities
  • Knowledge of IT security principals

Desired Skills:

  • Usability design best practices including wireframes, design mock-ups, voice of customer reviews
  • Knowledge of industry best practices in application development
  • Project leadership skills to successfully coordinate all aspects of project delivery
  • Professional certifications in Business Analysis and/or Project Management
  • Experience with reference architectures
  • Experience developing business cases & opportunity evaluations
  • Experience working in a large enterprise environment
  • Ability to mentor less experienced Business Analysts
  • Familiarity with infrastructure requirements and design
  • Familiarity with both cloud and on premise integration solutions
