To handle and process laundry using proper policies and procedures.
Essential Duties
- Label laundry per the facility procedures.
- Numbers and dates incoming resident lifting equipment slings and restraints.
- Sorts, washes, dry, folds and handles laundry using proper procedures.
- Rinses soiled linen before washing if needed.
- Eliminates crossing of soiled and clean linen.
- Loads washers and dryers at proper weight.
- Stocks linen areas per guidelines.
- Maintains a clean work and storage area.
- Picks up and delivers linens to units per schedule.
- Labels all compounds and chemicals properly and stores them in locked storage areas.
- Follows user directions for all compounds and chemicals.
- Uses proper body mechanics.
- Follows proper infection control practices.
- Follows procedure for disposal of worn or obsolete equipment.
- Observes for resident safety when in resident care areas.
- Maintains fire aisles when picking up and delivering laundry.
- Adheres to all facility and department safety policies and procedures.
Receives supervision from Laundry Supervisor.
Qualifications
- No convictions for abuse, neglect, or mistreatment or for misappropriation of property.
- Prompt and regular attendance.
- Ability to read, write and make simple calculations and follow oral and written directions.
- Knowledge of principles and requirements of sanitation and safety in handling laundry and equipment
Note: In terms of an 8 hour workday, “Occasionally” equals 1% to 33%; “Frequently,” 34% to 66%; “Continuously,” 67% to 100%
