The Operations Representative (OR) assists in driving Ashley HomeStore success through the provision of exceptional customer care and administrative services that ensure a positive and amazing HomeStore guest experience.This involves performing Guest-focused sales order entry, payment processing, providing clerical support to store administration and accounting functions, participating in continuous learning and professional development activities.Overall, the OR contributes to the HomeStore high performance culture by modeling our core values and ensuring high levels of customer care that keep Ashley as the #1 home furnishings market leader in style, selection, quality and value.
Essential Functions
  • Performing Customer-Focused Sales Order Entry and Payment Processing. The OR supports the provision of an outstanding customer experience for every guest by:
  • Performing sales order entry and payment processing, verifying the accuracy of sales paperwork and maintaining needed sales transaction documentation.
  • Reviewing and accurately processing credit paperwork, terms/conditions of sale and financing arrangements in accordance with finance company policies and procedures.
  • Handling cash and the cash drawer, ensuring appropriate balance throughout the day.
  • Scheduling Guest product deliveries.
  • Handling Guest inquiries or issues regarding sales, billing, pick up and/or delivery dates.
  • Completing credit memos and performing product exchanges, when authorized.
  • Providing Clerical Support to Store Administration and Accounting Functions. The OR provides clerical support to store administration and accounting by:
  • Handling telephone traffic and routing calls using professional paging methods.
  • Assisting in the completion of daily cash sales reports and other store-related reporting.
  • Helping with store opening and closing procedures, including cash balancing and daily checklists.
  • Providing general support in stock/order checking, part ordering, invoice filing, and receiving.
  • Assisting in inventory and loss prevention processes and controls.
  • Participating in Continuous Learning and Professional Development Activities. The OR focuses on his/her professional development by:
  • Developing and maintaining high levels of knowledge on all Ashley products, initiatives, and operations procedures.
  • Participating actively in meetings and coaching sessions with managers and trainers.
Nonessential FunctionsThe OR may occasionally perform other non-exempt duties, such as unloading trailers or merchandising the sales floor, as needed for proper store operation, or travel to other locations.He/she may perform other duties as assigned from time to time.
Schedule Expectations
The OR is scheduled to work a maximum of 40 hours per week; the number of hours worked will increase during holidays or blackout periods, for vacation coverage, or for other business needs.He/she is scheduled to close two nights each week and for two days off each week, except during holidays or blackout periods. Regular punctual attendance at the assigned store in accordance with these expectations is an essential function of the job and all job functions are performed at designated job location.
Education & Experience RequirementsHigh school diploma or GED required. Six months of retail office administration or customer service experience preferred; furniture retail experience preferred.
