POSITION SUMMARY: The Patient Access Scheduler is responsible for scheduling and interacting with patients via telephone with excellent telephone etiquette; effectively multi-tasking, accurately handling all calls and effectively managing time. Responsible for providing excellent customer service and accuracy and customer service are priorities for this position.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: -Schedules appointments for patients in accordance with the scheduling rules, reviewing appointment date, time, location and provider name with caller.-Responsible for validating and entering patient information and also insurance verification coverages into the appropriate computer system.-Duties may also include communicating with physician offices, insurance carriers, and patient follow-ups.-Contact insurance companies to verify patient coverage.-Answers telephone promptly and in a polite and professional manner.-Provides exception customer service, organizational skills and demonstrates the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.-Receives, directs, and relays telephone and fax information.-Communicates all add-ons, delays, cancellations, and “no-shows” to Clinic Coordinators.-Reminds caller of cancellations/no-show policy.-Explains all current fees and patient’s financial responsibility and informs patient of payment required for existing balances due at or before next appointment.-Responsible for inputting very detailed patient information.-Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records, completing diagnostic and procedure coding and keeping patients information confidential.-Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.-Uses computer system to refer to existing patient’s information or set up new patients in the scheduling tool.-Assist management with various clerical duties as needed.-Scanning Correspondence.-Assist customers and front line with phone inquiries.-Performs other duties as assigned.REQUIRMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS -High school diploma or equivalent.-One year of experience with front office and registration preferred.-Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred.-Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry systems.-Must be able to communicate politely and effectively with patients and employees.-Must have the ability to function as a bilingual Spanish-speaking agent in resolving issues and completing requests for information, confidential clinical data, and hospital services.We are an equal opportunity employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, age, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
