Job Description

The Triage RN is responsible for providing, prescribing, delegating,and coordinating nursing care with other health care providers to meetholistic needs of patients. Documents patient condition and anychanges in charts, schedules appointments, and communicateseffectively to patients and providers.

  • Manages nurse directed walk-ins and scheduling based on clinicaljudgement, utilizing physician when needed. Coordinating doublebooking and prioritizing timely follow up.
  • Ensures appropriate and effective use of electronic health recordsby documenting triage calls, information obtained for priorauthorizations and referrals, maintains HIPAA compliance with use ofEMR, and navigated through EMR in order to facilitate care.
  • Coordinating care by facilitating communication from care centersand outside facilities with primary care providers. Providingpatient education, initiating referral process and details ofreferral (date, time and address).
  • Accurately refills medication with verification and any changes toprescriptions, processes medication refill requests in timely manner(less than 24 hours), audits and communicates patient follow-upneeds (annual physicals, lab recheck, etc.), communicateseffectively with pharmacy to meet patient needs.
  • Ensures prior authorizations are approved and completed accuratelyfor patients by providing medical information for insurance companyreview, processes requests in timely manner, coordinates servicesfor approved requests while communicating back to patients, appealsand submits additional information as needed.
  • Promotes and ensures patient safety in performance ofadministering medications, treatments, procedures according tophysician orders/nursing policy in a timely manner.
Hours: Minimum 36 hours/week, Monday-Friday 7:30am-5:00pm

Experience and Skills

Education, Experience:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred
  • Effective knowledge and familiarity with word processing, computernavigation, and e-mail
  • A minimum of one to two years nursing experience preferred
  • Prior rural clinic experience preferred

Certificates, Licensure, Registrations:

  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nebraskaor multi state licensure in a nurse licensure compact state
  • Valid Nebraska driver’s license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
