Position: Sr. Accountant

Location: Northern Michigan (Petoskey preferred)

Salary: $80k-$85k bonus ski pass golf membership

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, including performing select balance sheet reconciliations and journal entries.
• Manage and reconcile intercompany transactions across multiple entities within the consolidated company.
• Ensure accurate accounting of fixed assets in line with US GAAP, providing guidance on accounting treatment for fixed asset projects, and handling fixed asset creation, disposition, roll forwards, and reconciliations.
• Review agreements to ensure compliance with ASC 842 regarding lease accounting.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and disclosures in accordance with GAAP.
• Assist in developing seasonal budgets and forecasts, analyzing budget variances.
• Ensure compliance with internal control procedures and assist in implementing new controls as necessary.
• Assist in the preparation of tax filings and support external tax consultants.
• Collaborate with external auditors for annual financial statement audits and fulfill Prepared By Client (PBC) requests.
• Identify and implement opportunities for improving finance processes and efficiencies.
• Provide assistance and support to accounting teams as needed.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Necessary Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
• CPA preferred.

Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years in accounting or finance roles with progressive responsibility.
• Public accounting experience preferred.

Technical Skills:

• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NAV, NetSuite).

Analytical Skills:

• Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.

Interpersonal Skills:

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, effective in cross-functional collaboration.

Industry Experience:

• Experience in hospitality is a plus.

• Residency or willingness to reside in the Petoskey/Northern Michigan area preferred.
